What is an Arboretum?
As a part of our commitment to creating places of tranquility and beauty that provide comfort to families when they need it most, we made the decision to certify All Saints Cemetery as an accredited arboretum, which today holds a Level 1 Accreditation from The ArbNet Arboretum Accreditation Program and The Morton Arboretum.
Our certification process began with a plan. We defined the purpose, audience, and structure of the arboretum, building out the future of our cemetery. To ensure that this plan would be fulfilled, we brought on a governing board that would see it come to fruition, as well as staff and volunteers dedicated to bringing our arboretum to life.
An arboretum is a place of not only beauty but education. In line with the requirements of accreditation, our arboretum contains more than 25 species of trees and woody plants, each labeled with a placard containing both the plant’s common and scientific name. Also in line with our certification, we allow public access to our arboretum, as families visiting their loved ones at our cemetery can find comfort in wandering through our grounds and learning about the species found within.
